There is a promotion going on now whereby if you use ChasePay to check out at Walmart.com with a Chase consumer Ultimate Rewards-earning card, your purchase will earn 10x Ultimate Rewards points on the first $250 you spend.  The promo runs until August 31 and while many people got an email about the promo, it’s been widely reported that you don’t have to have been targeted to get the bonus and it works on multiple cards.

The cards this applies to:

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred
  • Chase Freedom Unlimited
  • Chase Freedom

If I have all four cards, can I get the bonus on each card?

Apparently, yes. People are reporting that will work. If you have all four cards you can buy $1,000 and get 10,000 Ultimate Rewards points.

Can I get extra cash back if I go through a portal like Ebates or an airline portal or the Chase shopping portal?

Yes, although you likely won’t get the bonus there if you buy a gift card to get your bonus.

The best part?

You can just buy a gift card for something you use anyway, like Uber for example. With UR points worth 1.5% (if you have a Reserve card) this is like getting a 15% cash back bonus!

Just another reason to have more than one Chase card… at a minimum I always suggest both the Reserve and the Freedom Unlimited anyway – to maximize your earnings.
