Best Delta Platinum/Gold American Express offers are back: 70k miles, 10k MQMs, and $100 statement credit for Platinum, 60k miles + $50 statement credit for Gold
I keep current credit card offers and applications on the travel rewards credit card page. There is a section for Limited Time Offers.
If you have never had the Platinum Delta Skymiles credit card from American Express, there’s a pretty compelling offer on now. Both the Personal and the Business versions of the card have this offer:
LIMITED TIME OFFER: EARN 70,000 BONUS MILES AND 10,000 MQMS AND a $100 statement credit
after spending $3,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months.† In addition, earn a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new Card within your first 3 months.†
Special offer expires on 11/8/17
This offer has in the past required $3-$5k in spending so this is as good as we have seen.
** Also note, the Gold version of this card is also available with a 60,000 mile offer with a $50 statement credit, but no MQMs, which you may like better if you are not looking to take a card with an annual fee. **
I personally think the Platinum card is a great offer because of the MQMs. This card earns 10,000 MQMs (which also post as miles) after $25,000 and $50,000 in annual spend. With this bonus, you can earn 30,000 MQMs in one year (if you spend 50k on the card in your first year), netting you Silver Medallion status on Delta. If you are close to another status level or even just if you want the MQMs for rollover into next year, it’s a good time.
Let’s say you’ve got 67,000 MQMs year-to-date. This 10k MQM bonus will push you to 77k MQM and Platinum status, which offers so much more than Gold – like free award changes and redeposits – a huge benefit given how hard it can be to get low-level awards on Delta.
Keep in mind, American Express currently only lets you get the bonus for a card once per lifetime, so do your own thinking on if this is the right time for you – but it’s a solid offer.
Also, keep in mind the card has a $195 annual fee. But the card also comes with one annual companion certificate valid on L,U,T,X,V fares. While some people have trouble using it, I’ve used it many times over the years generally saving more than the annual fee. You’ll also get a free checked bag and priority boarding while you earn that Silver Medallion status.
As a reminder, I keep current credit card offers on the travel rewards credit card page (and earn a commission if you apply through those links, which I greatly appreciate). There is a section for Limited Time Offers.
