{EXPIRED OFFER}

A lot of people have really been loving the American Express Business Platinum card since it was updated last year to include a 50% points rebate on all business class flights (and one chosen airline for economy flights) when booked with points through the Amex portal.

So, if a ticket cost $4,000, you would pay 400,000 Amex Membership Rewards points but then get 200,000 rebated back to you a few weeks later. No limit.

I’m writing this in the past tense because, as of June 1, 2017, new applications will see not only the recently raised to $550 annual fee, but a reduction of the Pay With Points rebate benefit. Starting June 1, new applicants will see the rebate shrunk to 35% and capped at 500,000 yearly MR points rebated.

If you apply by May 31, you will get the 50% / no cap benefit for your first year.

For me, getting one year of this with the $550 annual fee isn’t enough for me to jump. I got the Business Gold Rewards card last year and applied today for the Blue BusinessSM Plus Credit Card with a 20,000 MR signup bonus which will replace the Gold card in my wallet.

But others, particularly those with already high Amex MR balances, may want to jump in before May 31.
