Who wants to throw out the first pitch at a World Series game?
Because you actually can.
I’ve written before about how much I love SPG’s “Moments.” They allow you to use your Starpoints for lots of great experiences that you wouldn’t actually do otherwise. Often they aren’t fantastic redemptions from a pure value perspective, but they are a great way to treat yourself to things you wouldn’t otherwise do the same way you might use points to stay in a 5 star hotel or fly first class for free. I’ve used SPG points for nearly courtside seats at the US Open (which I’d never have paid cash for) and was more than happy to do so.
Now, if you are a baseball fanatic, you have the chance to bid your Starpoints for a chance to throw out the first pitch at a World Series game. There are a couple of packages available but I’d still bet bidding will get into the hundreds of thousands of Starpoints, so this won’t be cheap. 100,000 points would be about $2,500 in value. The options are Game 4 and Game 7 (if there is one – so it’s either the most exciting game ever or it doesn’t happen…)
Still, if you have a massive bank of points and live for baseball, this is one of those once-in-a0lifetime experiences you’d never forget.
And another reason why I’d be getting the SPG Amex signup bonuses all day long if you were allowed more than once per lifetime….
As a reminder, I keep current credit card offers on the travel rewards credit card page (and earn a commission if you apply through those links, which I greatly appreciate). There is a section for Hotel cards like the SPG Amex.
