My Twitter feed has just caught fire….. (Credit to Gary Leff since I saw his first but I also see it in about 8 feeds)

The Starwood (SPG) Amex is a favorite credit card for most of us. With good reason. Earning Starpoints tends to get us great redemption value.  You can use them to stay in some of Starwood’s upscale brands like W, Le Meridien, The Luxury Collection, and Design Hotels. You can transfer them to lots of airline programs with a 25% bonus (when you transfer 20,000 in one shot). And they offer extra goodies like Nights and Flights.

I use an SPG Amex as a supplement to my Delta Platinum Amex for my business spend.

With this offer, anyone that has either the personal or business Starwood Preferred Guest credit card can refer a friend and get 10,000 bonus Starpoints when the friend is accepted.

Here’s the link to refer a friend.

Canadians rejoice! You can also refer your friends for the same bonus here.

Now – all of this said, your friend’s offer will be 25,000 Starpoints after they use their new Card to make $5,000 in purchases within the first 3 months.

Just two months ago, SPG was offering 35,000 points for signing up. And you can only get one bonus per card product per lifetime. So this may NOT be the best time to apply.  But if they need those points for a vacation this summer, it may be. Just remember you owe them some drinks!

And you need to already have the card product you are referring. I don’t have the personal card (anymore) so I can’t refer that.

Yes, you can refer someone else in your household as long as they have an SSN. No, an authorized card holder won’t count.

Lastly – like I said, I do have the Starwood Business Amex. I’d be happy to refer you myself if you are looking to signup for this card and are happy with the 25,000 point offer.
