This “best ever” (the card just launched this year, thus the quotes!) offer for The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card expires on Weds June 27th. It’s 125,000 bonus Hilton points when you spend $5,000 in 3 months.

So, should you get this card now?

As always, it depends.

First, let’s refresh ourselves with the main features of this card:

Earning:

12X Hilton points at hotels & resorts in the Hilton portfolio
6X Hilton points on Select Business & Travel Purchases
3X Hilton points on all other purchases

I value Hilton points just under a half cent a point, meaning that your spend on the card at Hilton is worth about 6% back and business and travel gets 3%.  1.5% on other purchases isn’t bad, but it’s not the best you can do there.

Other Card Features:

  • Cardmembers get instant Hilton Gold Status
  • Earn a free weekend night when you spend $15,000 in a calendar year and a second free weekend night when you spend $45,000 the same year. These nights can be used at any category hotel.
  • 10 Free Priority Pass lounge visits.

Other considerations:

  • You can only have 5 Personal and Small Business Amex cards at a time. (Some people report getting 6).
  • This card, as a Business Credit Card will not count against your 5/24 status.
  • We do know that Amex has been getting just a bit stricter with people that have had “too many cards” lately.
  • How will you use the points? To me (this is my personal preference) the best use of Hilton points is a 5 night stay at their most expensive properties, such as the Conrad Maldives. This is because you can easily get 4 times the normal value out of Hilton points this way. Combine this card with a Hilton Ascend credit card right now, which has a 100,000 point welcome offer, and that’s 225,000 points (more than half of the 380,000 points you’d need for those 5 nights). Or combine with the no-annual fee version of the personal card (75,000 point welcome offer) for 200,000 combined bonus points.
