View From the Wing flagged a deal earlier today that’s definitely worth sharing.

Qatar Airways is giving a 40% bonus when you transfer 20,000 or more Citi ThankYou points to Qatar’s Avios program (only 20% if you transfer less than 20,000).

Importantly, as Gary notes, Qatar is fulfilling this deal, not Citi, and it may take up to 45 days to get the bonus Avios.

These are Avios that can be freely moved to other Avios programs like British Airways provided those accounts are >90 days old and have had activity, but you may want to use these Avios to book the famous QSuites.

As I wrote about recently, Qatar’s Avios program is now the second best way to book those QSuites.

With this deal, you could fly from New York to Doha in QSuites Business Class (one way) for 50,000 Citi ThankYou points (converted to 70,000 Avios) – that’s 10,000 less than the signup bonus from a Citi Premier card – a card that happens to be a favorite because it earns 3X on so many popular bonus categories like dining, gas, and groceries. These days, your gas spend alone could get you another QSuites ticket! 😉

The bonus offer is for 60,000 Citi ThankYou points when you spend $4,000 in 3 months.

(For completeness, here are all the credit cards that earn Citi ThankYou points)

Here is a direct link to the transfer bonus offer on Qatar’s website.
