Chase not matching new 100,000 UR point offer on Business Preferred card
Late last year Chase launched the Business Preferred credit card to replace the Chase Ink Plus card. The improvements included 3x points on many bonus categories, with one notable downgrade in the form of a conspicuously absent bonus multiplier for office supplies. The standard signup offer since inception was 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points. I applied for and received this card back on Dec, 6, 2016.
Why does that date matter? Because recently Chase bumped the signup offer on this card to 100k – but ONLY for what they call business managed clients. That means that a) it’s not an online offer – it’s in-branch only, and b) even in-branch only certain people qualify. Doctor of Credit explains in this post how you may be able to get it anyway.
Now it’s important to know that Chase has a policy of matching new offers that you meet the terms of for the same product if you write in within 90 days of account opening. Specifically – that’s the date you apply and NOT the date you receive the card.
In my case, the new product launched within 90 days of receiving the card but beyond 90 days of applying. I learned this through 4 secure messages and a phone call. But the important note for my readers is this final note I received from a supervisor via secure message:
We apologize for the confusion. We do normally match
other enrollment bonus offers if a customer contacts us
within 90 days of their account open date. However, we
are not offering the option to match the 100,000
enrollment bonus points offer for any customers.
So I would assume that due to how targeted the offer is, they made this uniform decision.
