Citi has launched a new offer from now until December 31st, 2021.

If you have a Citi Rewards+, Citi Preferred or Citi Premier card, you’ll get an additional 3 ThankYou Points for every $1 spent on eligible hotel and car bookings through the ThankYou Travel Portal.

If you are in a cash crunch, you should avoid travel rewards credit cards until you are caught up. Here are our favorite credit cards for Intro 0% APR offers and for balance transfer offers

This means that if you have the Citi Premier card, which already earns 3X on travel, and you book travel with the Citi ThankYou Travel Portal, you would earn 6X points in total (3X + 3X). If you don’t have a Premier, this is a great time to grab the 80,000 point bonus. The Rewards+ and Preferred both earn 1X on travel so this would give you 4X total.

This is a pretty solid offer, though you should keep in mind that hotel bookings made via the portal won’t be eligible for hotel loyalty program elite benefits or points.

I value a Citi ThankYou Point at 1.6 cents each, meaning that you would be getting an approximate rebate of 9.6% on this spend on a Premier card.

There’s no registration page and no registration is necessary – all cardmembers that use the portal will earn the bonus ThankYou points.

New to all of this? My “introduction to miles and points” book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points is available on Amazon and at major booksellers.

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at this year's South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.
