Turkish Miles&Smiles 30% Off Awards

Turkish Airlines is out with a Miles&Smiles promotion that discounts their already best possible award pricing to Europe and Istanbul from 45,000 miles to 31,500 miles each way in Business Class (or 21,000 miles in economy – but… meh).

Yes, I know, TECHNICALLY ANA provides better award pricing at 44,000 miles each way – 88,000 round trip, whereas Turkish is 45,000 each way. But as ANA transfers are not instant and ANA also can’t hold your seats while you transfer, I consider Turkish to be the cheapest. ANA also requires round trip redemptions while Turkish allows one ways.

If you are in a cash crunch, you should avoid travel rewards credit cards until you are caught up. Here are our favorite credit cards for Intro 0% APR offers and for balance transfer offers

The offer is valid for tickets issued between December 7, 2021 and Dec 31, 2021, with travel dates between December 7, 2021 and May 15, 2022. (Excluding April 7-25th, 2022).

turkish 30% off dale turkish award sale

The flights must be Saver level – which is what Turkish calls “Promotional” – and the flights must be on Turkish metal. You can fly direct to Istanbul or you can connect from Istanbul onwards. I’m highlighting the cost to Europe, but the sale is network wide – anywhere Turkish flies.

While flying via IST to Europe is the long way for sure, if you can score one of Turkish’s new 787-10, you’ll be treated to a beautiful business class cabin (with direct aisle access for all) and Turkish also has some of the best catering in the sky for which the onboard Chefs have returned following a removal during peak COVID.

We’ve also written about how to book the flights to Europe generally before – specifically how one Citi Premier bonus would get you a round trip. WIth this deal, you’d have miles to spare!!

You can book online or by phone, but for months people have been able to make a “Purchase” button appear to submit payment. There’s a complicated method people have come up with to get a PNR and call to pay, but for these flights you can also just call to book which should be simple as there are no partner awards allowed anyway.

You can transfer points in to Turkish from both Citi ThankYou and from Capital One miles. They aren’t instant but generally just a day or so and Turkish can hold your seats while you transfer.

Let me know what you book!

New to all of this? My “introduction to miles and points” book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points is available on Amazon and at major booksellers.

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at this year's South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.

  1. This actually seems like a decent deal. I don’t have a Miles & Smiles account so I went to create one but it looks like something is broken with the password field on the signup form. Anyone else seeing the same issue?
