Chase and DoorDash have struck a pretty nice “value add” for people with Chase Ultimate Rewards credit card holders

The deal you get depends on the card you have.

Chase Sapphire Reserve (and JP Morgan Reserve) cardmembers get:

Free DashPass benefits on eligible orders for at least 12 months (and a maximum of 24 months) after activation.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card cardmembers get:

Free DashPass benefits on eligible orders for at least 12 months (and a maximum of 24 months) after activation.

Chase Freedom Credit Card and Slate cardmembers get:

  1. Free DashPass benefits on eligible orders for 3 months after activation, when the primary cardmember or an authorized user activates the benefit.
  2. After the first 3 months, the user will be auto-enrolled for the next 9 months in DashPass with a 50% discount applied to the then current membership rate.
  3. After the first 12 months, the user will be auto-enrolled into full price membership at the then current rate.

Don’t have a DoorDash account yet? You can use my referral link and you’ll get $5 off each of your first 3 orders. (I get a $7 credit).

Some notes after reading the DoorDash/Chase official FAQ:

  • Some restaurants will have a green check mark. Only these restaurants will give you the free delivery and slightly reduced service fees. You’ll have to order $12 or more to get the free delivery.
  • The card you enroll with must be made your default payment method.
  • You *do* need to pay with the Chase card to get the waived delivery fee.
  • It appears that authorized user on the Reserve and Preferred cards can use this benefit as well for their own accounts. Freedom and Slate cardmembers cannot do this.

Bottom Line

This is a nice “value add” for Chase cardmembers and a heavy DoorDash user might even consider getting a Chase Ultimate Rewards credit card for the deal.

The pass is worth $9.99 a month and those delivery fees can really add up. That said, I don’t know that many people that are faithful to one food delivery service, at least here in NYC. The delivery fees and service fees can add up to pretty ridiculous amounts. That said, I do sometimes use them myself and I can see using DoorDash over Caviar or UberEats now, if all else is equal, to save on the delivery fee.
