This deal got me pretty excited, and I was thrilled to find it offered on my American Express Hilton Aspire credit card.

Danny the Deal Guru (via Miles to Memories) uncovered this deal from American Express wherein, if you are targeted, you would earn a Free Night Award (currently usable any night of the week for any Standard award night at any Hilton property). It may be available on any of your Hilton / American Express credit cards. I believe it’s only on the 3 personal cards.

If you are in a cash crunch, you should avoid travel rewards credit cards until you are caught up. Here are our favorite credit cards for Intro 0% APR offers and for balance transfer offers

If you didn’t get an email about this, you can still check at this link to see if you were targeted. I didn’t get the email, but I did successfully register.

Once enrolled, use your Card for everyday purchases and earn a Free Night Reward after reaching $8,000 in eligible purchases by February 28, 2022. Terms Apply.

I always like to have two of these on hand at any time, since I like to use these certificates to book super high end properties and you really need a full weekend to enjoy one.

I most recently used Free Night Awards at the LXR Oceana in Santa Monica, California. Room rates there with tax and fees start close to $800 a night. If used this way, the $8,000 in spend gets you a net effective 10% rebate on spend. Obviously your exact return will vary, but it’s a good illustration of how good this offer is. Certainly good enough for me to shift $8,000 in spend over the next few months onto my Aspire.

New to all of this? My “introduction to miles and points” book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points is available on Amazon and at major booksellers.

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.
