IHG is offering free top tier Spire Elite status if you sign up by October 31st using this link.

If you can manage to stay 10 nights at IHG during this time you’ll keep Spire Elite for all of next year (which will also earn you 25,000 bonus points).  5 nights will get you Platinum (which truthfully doesn’t give you too much).

I’m not sure if this was intended to be ‘open for all’ so YMMV but if you’re interested I’d get in there quick.

Let me know if this works for you – here, on Twitter, or in the private MilesTalk Facebook group.

New to all of this? My new “introduction to miles and points” book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points is available now.

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.

  1. Truthfully, not a ton. It does entitle you to room upgrades, but discretionary as far as suites. And late checkout is available to all elites – nothing promises you any better there. The biggest benefit is probably 100% bonus points on earned points for hotel stays. That and the 25k if you complete the challenge.

  2. I immediately received confirmation that I’d registered for this promo, but my account doesn’t reflect Spire status. I thought it was supposed to be “instant”, and that registrants were supposed to enjoy Spire status for 90 days. What are others’ experiences with this promo?
