MilesTalk group moderator Sarah just let me know that a promo that has come and gone several times before is back.

💳 If you are in a cash crunch, you should avoid travel rewards credit cards until you are caught up. Here are our favorite credit cards for Intro 0% APR offers and for balance transfer offers

All you have to do is click the link on the promo page to enroll, using any American Express credit card. The terms say you’ll get a full year of status (until 2/28/21) – although apparently it’s showing status validity until Feb 2022!) and you can even match this status over to Hertz President’s Circle.

Keep in mind that I always recommend using a Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve for car rentals since they have primary CDW coverage but if you pay with an Amex, you’ll get 5 bonus credits (which is a free rental day) for paying for your first rental with the Amex. If you do that consider buying CDW as Amex coverage is secondary.
