hilton aspire and surpass updates
The offers mentioned in this article were current on the date of publication but may have expired.

Earlier today I wrote about all of the changes Amex is making for the rest of the year to incentivize you to keep their high annual fee charge cards.

There were two nice benefits for these cards mentioned in there (which are not the topic of this post but I’ll remind you here):

  • Bonus Points earned through eligible purchases on all Hilton American Express Cards, that post to the Card Member’s Hilton Honors account between May 1 through December 31, 2020 will be considered Base Points and will count towards Elite tier qualification and Lifetime Diamond Status.

  • Hilton Aspire Consumer Card Members’ eligible purchases at U.S. restaurants, including takeout and delivery, will now qualify toward the $250 Hilton resort credit benefit (June through August 2020).

Both of these are great, but not mentioned here was some (perhaps) even better news:

Hilton Aspire

Hilton Aspire and Hilton Surpass 2020 Benefits:

Groceries:

From May 1 – July 31, 2020, you’ll get 12X points per dollar at US Supermarkets.

Free Night Awards:

Unexpired and new Free Weekend Night Rewards issued now through Dec 31, 2020 can be used any night of the week and any newly issued awards now through Dec 31, 2020 will be valid for 24 months.

Remember that if you already had a Free Night Reward in your account, those already had expiration dates extended by Hilton to August 31, 2021.

(Aspire Only) Dining counts towards $250 annual resort credit:

From June 1 to Aug 31, 2020, any US restaurant purchases (including takeout and delivery) will be applied to an open $250 resort credit balance.

Purchases count toward elite / lifetime elite status:

All bonus points earned via card spend between now and Dec 31, 2020 will be considered Base Points rather than Bonus Points and count towards elite tier qualification including Lifetime Diamond Status.

Summary

While I think many people may have already downgraded these cards due to representatives firmly stating no concessions would be offered, for those who stuck around these are some great benefits.

The ability to use the Free Weekend Nights any day of the week is pretty huge all on its own. And for Hilton Aspire cardholders, it should be easy as pie to use that $250 resort credit now.
