Remember that with the Southwest Companion Pass, you get the Pass for the remainder of the year that you earn it plus all of the following year. So you want to earn it as early in a year as possible. If you picked up this offer today, you want to start spending, but not COMPLETE your minimum spend requirement for the bonus until January 1, 2026.
You’d get the card then, finish the bonus offer spend that first week in January, and you’d have Companion Pass for the rest (almost all) of 2026 AND 2027!

Does Southwest offer this type of promotion every year? Since I’ve already earned a companion for this year on Southwest Rapid Rewards. I want to plan for next year and use another card for spending if I know I can get this at the end of the year.
