Hyatt’s out with a response to the new US rules requiring a negative COVID test wherein, starting today, all passengers ages 2+ are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departure (or proof of having recovered from COVID within the last 3 months).

Hyatt is offering free, on-site COVID-19 testing options for guests traveling to the U.S. at all Hyatt resorts across Latin America, including the Caribbean, Mexico, Costa Rica, and South America, starting today.

Hyatt resorts have arranged for two complimentary COVID-19 tests per guestroom per stay at participating resorts. Complimentary rapid antigen or RT-PCR testing options (both approved testing per CDC guidelines) and minimum length of stay vary per property.

Hyatt hotels and resorts in Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America are also extending a Travel Delay Rate to guests whose travel plans are impacted by test-related reasons, representing up to a 50% savings on standard rates and up to a 30% discount on food and beverage.

The Travel Delay Rate will be eligible for World of Hyatt points and Tier-Qualifying nights.

Per Hyatt:

Wellbeing Always: Travel Delay Rate

To further care for any guest who is required to extend their stay due to a delay in testing or test results or a positive test result prior to their return flight, Hyatt hotels and resorts across Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America will offer a special Travel Delay Rate, extending a 50% and 25% savings on standard rates at full service and select service hotels, respectively, as well as up to a 30% discount on their food and beverage at the hotel (excluding alcohol). The rate is valid for stays up to 14 nights, no minimum length of stay is required at this time and guests must book with hotel directly while on property. This offer is not valid Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara properties.

All Hyatt hotels will work with local health authorities and follow local guidelines to make arrangements for guests who may be required to self-isolate after their COVID-19 test, either by accommodating guests on property or a local quarantine center. Guidelines and services vary by destination.

To learn more about on-property COVID-19 testing options and the Travel Delay Rate, guests may contact the Hyatt Global Contact Center at 800-323-7249 or their hotel directly.

yottaWhat is Yotta Savings?: The Yotta Savigs account is a really fun way to earn interest at a higher rate than Marcus while having some fun each night when the Yotta prize ball drops. Currently, the statistical odds imply a net savings rate of between around 1% and 3% - at a time when banks like Marcus are offering a paltry 0.5%. Plus, it's fun! | Read my review of Yotta.

I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! A few years ago I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at this year's South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born.
