Word is spreading fast that JetBlue is considering modifying the terms (or ending early) their promotion to get up to 75,000 free TrueBlue points depending on your Virgin America points balance.

It seems they didn’t expect the volume caused by sites like MilesTalk (and dozens others like it) nor the amount of people that would only be transferring miles in to meet the balance.

You see, their target in this promotion is Virgin America flyers – not anyone with a zero balance that transfers in points from SPG, Amex, or Citi.

They really should have though that through better. Just requiring a minimum number of points to come from flying and proof of account activity showing same would have greatly mitigated this.

If you were thinking of doing this, stay tuned on Twitter for the latest. It’s likely that if they change the terms while your points are in the middle of a transfer you would be out of luck.

PS: JetBlue – I’m available for loyalty marketing consulting in the future…..
