Marriott is Losing 122 Hotels: It’s Official (Sonesta Gains 98)

On September 25th, I wrote that this could be happening.

Now, we have received word that it’s a done deal.

Marriott will lose 122 hotels in total as a result of missed payments to Service Properties Trust

98 of the Marriott branded hotels lost here will be operated under the Royal Sonesta, Sonesta, Sonesta Select and Sonesta ES Suites brands. This will bring the domestic Sonesta footprint to 178 hotels – up from close to none prior to 2020.

The remaining 24 hotels will be sold, consisting of 8 TownePlace Suites hotels, 13 Courtyard hotels and 3 Residence Inn hotels with 342 rooms).

This is probably a great time for you to brush up on Sonesta and it’s loyalty program + status match and credit card.
