Mesa launched late last year with a goal of doing for mortgages what Bilt did for rent.
While Mesa had a bunch of great transfer partners, one problem in their system may have been that you got all the points for paying your mortgage via Mesa, but didn’t actually process that mortgage via Mesa – meaning they losing money on each mortgage payment you made and they also had some solid 3X categories like daycare which clearly also cost them money.

There really weren’t any warning signs of trouble. Even their affiliate program remains (technically, though not practically) live.
Yet today, all Mesa cardmembers received the following:
We are reaching out today to share the unfortunate news that, effective immediately, your Mesa Homeowners Card account will be closed. As such, your credit card will be deactivated and you will not be able to make any new purchases or earn Mesa Points. We will provide you with separate guidance with regards to your remaining Mesa Points balance. This account closure has nothing to do with your account standing and is not the result of any wrongdoing or any actions taken by you with regards to your account.
Unfortunately, the window to transfer points out to transfer partners has now passed (that was before the email came out), but it seems to state that you can still cash out your points for 0.6 cents a piece in cash. Hopefully they have enough in the bank to fulfill that.
It’s a shame it didn’t work out for Mesa. I have a feeling that with Bilt Rewards planning to offer points on mortgages across any lender starting in early 2026, Mesa may have found it difficult to continue fundraising – but that is pure conjecture.
If you have a Mesa account, were you able to cash your points out?
