If you even casually stopped by Twitter (X) in the last day, you will see that there is endless discussion that, starting April 1, 2026, many high people that spend tons and tons of money on ads will have to switch from credit card payments to bank transfers.

That means people paying ads with the Chase Sapphire Reserve for Businessâ„  who have been earning unlimited 3X on their ad spend are going to be cut off from, in some cases, millions and millions of points.

Heck, in a prior life I had an agency that did media buys for clients and I’d put the spend on my card for points and bill it back, so I feel for them!

I think this post below started it, but X users have been sharing and commenting non-stop.

If you click the post you can see tons of replies from people lamenting the loss of free business class flights…. I feel for them!

I actually love seeing how mainstream the love for points is, although this situation is no fun for anyone at whatever the threshold is for this. Smaller accounts aren’t impacted. This is only very large spenders where Meta is essentially saying the fees are not worthwhile.

Now, there IS a way to keep earning points on the media spend, but instead of free endless points, you have to do math. You could use a business credit card over at Melio for a 2.9% fee. As I said on X, if you have it on a 2% card and the business fee is deductible, and you know how to use transferable points, you are probably still winning! Just much less.

You can still grab $200 after your first Melio payment of $200+ if you use the link on the Melio article here.

Are you impacted by this?

What’s your next move?
