Thanks to MilesTalk Facebook group member Marquis L., we know about a new tier matching program at the Pechanga casino in Southern California. It’s a decent drive from both LA and San Diego (a bit closer to LA). I did the drive from LA last year and think it took around 1.5 -2 hours.

Matching here is especially interesting because of the opportunity to match your status to Venetian Rewards status the next time you are in Vegas thanks to the special Pechanga / Venetian partnership.

It’s worth noting that of typical Status Match Merry Go Round statuses, only Caesars (which most no longer have) will match, with standard Diamond matching to Gold which matches to Venetian Sapphire. Unfortunately that won’t get you waived resort fees….

You can see the match table with Venetian here (what matches to what with benefits).

But as Facebook group member Johnnie points out, you can do better if you are willing to work for it. If you have Hard Rock Icon status (so if you have MGM Gold you can match to Hard Rock in AC) or Golden Nugget Chairman, you can first head over to Yaamava Casino, about an hour away. They will grant you Amber status which matches to Pechanga Platinum which matches to Venetian

Yaamava seems to always be matching and here is their extensive tier match page. Rio Platinum would get you Diamond at Yaamava which would actually match over to top tier Red Card at Pechanga – and that matches to top tier Diamond at Venetian!

Here is the Pechanga tier match page which goes over all of your options.

You have until the end of 2025 to match with status lasting until Jan 31, 2026. Note that Venetian’s status year ends at the end of February allowing some overlap.

I’ll be the first to acknowledge this “side match” will appeal to very few of you. It’s a lot of work and you still need a starting status point, none of which are available by anything as simple as a credit card as used to be the case with the Status Match Merry Go Round™.

Yet, I’m sure there are a handful of you that will go nuts for this – and I love to see it 🙂

  1. So, if I match Yaamava status to Pechanga Red at the end of October of 2025, Red at Pechanga will be valid only until January 31, 2026, right? And if I then, at the end of October of 2025, match Pechanga Red to Venetian Diamond, Venetian Diamond will be valid only until February 28, 2026, right? Wouldn’t I then, under current rules for both programs, be able to re-match from Venetian Diamond to Pechanga Red in February of 2026 and then re-match from Pechanga Red to Venetian Diamond in, say, March of 2026 to have Diamond until February 28, 2027, and so forth? I don’t see any limitations in the terms of Venetian-Pechanga relationship that restricts matching to one-time. Or am I missing something?

    • @Gary everything you said sounds right to me. I’ll be doing my first “rematch” at Venetian from Pechanga next week so will be able to further confirm. I think that a simple lack of a massive number of people being able to go to both casinos in the right timeframe AND have a starting match point keeps this low volume and active.

      • Did Venetian “rematch” you? If so did you go Venetian to Pechanga around 1/28/25, and then Pechanga to Venetian just now? I think I went Caesars to Pechanga in 1/25 and then Pechanga to Venetian in 3/25, so mine was a first time match not a “rematch”.

  2. I had Venetian ruby from status match in 2024 and matched to pechanga platinum in Feb 25. Then went to Vegas and rematched with Venetian to Ruby in March 2025. They said they were no longer matching and then I said what about Pechanga and they said that is the only one they were matching with. I hope to do it again in Feb/March if this is still a thing
