When it comes to the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, the eligibility for the new cardmember bonus offers have been in flux.
After the most recent refresh of the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Chase started to limit eligibility to one bonus TOTAL, per the Sapphire family, per lifetime. Then it seemed like if you had a Sapphire Preferred bonus, you could still (maybe!) get a Reserve bonus but not the other way around.
Now, based on information circulated to Chase bankers in-branch and effective today, you are eligible for a bonus on each product once per lifetime.

Sure, it’s nothing like the old rules where you could get a bonus every 48 months and simply downgrade to a Freedom beforehand. But if you’ve been a long time Sapphire Reserve holder and actually never had a Sapphire Preferred card, you can officially get bonuses if you get one. Likewise, this should eliminate confusion on if a CSP cardholder can apply for a CSR and get the bonus.
All of. this said, you’ll still need to pay attention to the “bonus eligibility popup” Chase rolled out last year. We *think* these rules are the new rules, but if you get that bonus popup saying you are ineligible, that is the last word…
If you apply under these new rules and get approved where you previously had gotten a popup, please comment here or in the Facebook group!

I’ve held a CSP since early/mid-2022; however, I have never had a CSR. I removed my security freezes on my credit at all three bureaus this morning (01/22/2026) and applied for the CSR, and I was approved with a $30K credit limit ($155K Income, 790-800 credit scores) on the card without any sort of pop-up about bonus ineligibility for the 125K offer (I did try to see if I was eligible for the 175K offer, but no go).
Awesome. Thanks for sharing the DP!
