NYC to Paris in Business Class for $999 return
Boutique carrier La Compagnie is having a bit of a pre-Thanksgiving “Blue Friday” sale. The all-business-class airline only flies between Newark and Paris CDG.
The upside to this deal?
Well, you are getting a premium cabin experience (and how often do you get to fly on an exclusively business class plane?) for under $1,000. You can snooze overnight in “almost lie-flat” seats and wake up rested. Availability for the deal in early next year seems wide open as well. You’ll just need to search for the dates you want and see what comes up as there’s no special search option for only the sale fares.
It’s far from as premium as transatlantic business class gets. In fact, it’s one of the few ways to ride “up front” and not get a fully lie-flat seat these days. The La Compagnie seats only go down to 175 degrees – angled lie-flat. The food is also, while elevated from a coach meal for sure, not amazing.
Other downsides include the fact that due to their limited operational schedule, any operations issues could mean major delays as they can’t just pop you on a flight an hour later. And for me, the fact that you can only earn miles in their own loyalty program and not earn those 7,000+ miles towards status is a buzz kill.
That said, buying a similar ticket on a legacy carrier is generally going to cost north of $2,000. So it is a bargain for sure. If you aren’t addicted to miles and generally fly coach, this might be the perfect “splurge within reach.”
