First off, I wouldn’t do this myself – ever – because I can get more than 0.5 cents from Hilton points.  But ever since Hilton did their latest mass devaluation and started moving prices (in points) around to fluctuate based on rate, it is certainly harder to find outsized value. If you want to, though, I wrote about the best ways to extract outsized value (at Hilton) here.

Others have decided to flee the Hilton Honors train and I can’t say I blame them. And if this is you, Doctor of Credit is reporting that Amazon.com has now made them worth 0.5 cents each on Amazon purchases vs. the standard 0.2 cents.  Many are choosing to liquidate this way.

I fairly value Hilton points right at 0.5 cents, meaning that is the lowest value you should ever take from them. And given that, if you either have millions of them you aren’t spending or just want to get rid of them, I’ll admit this is a solid way. Not it didn’t last at this rate too long last time and probably won’t this time.

Be sure to verify before you submit the order that it is indeed pricing at half a cent each (i.e. 10,000 points should wipe $50 off your total.

There’s no big trick other than going to Amazon.com and linking your Hilton account in payments and then choosing that as your payment method.
