For while now, the SPG Amex cards have been offering pretty poor signup bonuses of up to $200 in statement credits and no points.
Today, August 1st, the signup bonuses finally return.
The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express (personal) card is offering a 75,000 point signup bonus for $3,000 in spend in 3 months and the Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card is offering a 100,000 point signup bonus for $5,000 in spend in 3 months.
The 75,000 point bonus is equivalent to 25,000 “old” Starpoints while the 100,000 point offer is equivalent to 33,333 “old” Starpoints.
This is great news for those that delayed back when the offers were last available, but not as great news now considering all of the new bonus restrictions both Chase and Amex are now placing on new card signups.
If you want the bonus on the Personal card, you will NOT be eligible if you have (or had in the last 30 days) a Chase Marriott card.
If you want the bonus on the Business card, you will NOT be eligible if you have a Chase Marriott business card, had one in the last 30 days, or have signed up for a Chase card within the last 90 days, or have received a welcome bonus for one in the last 24 months.
That’s a mouthful, right? But that’s not all… you also have to consider the restrictions in play if you want a Chase Marriott card, as having either of these cards will limit those starting August 26th (happily not before then, so you still have time).
Still, all around good news for those who have never had one of these products and want the bonus points before August 26th, when these bonuses will all become more difficult.
Because of the August 26th new restrictions, if you are eligible and want the card(s), do not delay.
