Users on Reddit are reporting receiving targeted offers for a 125,000 point signup bonus, just one day after the card launched with a public 100,000 point offer. I wrote yesterday about why you might want/need to get the SPG Luxury card by the 25th, and so many of us did just that yesterday.

Now, according to a Redditor, people are being targeted by email and/or in their SPG accounts for a 125,000 point signup bonus. I am not a fan of these kinds of games…. first offering a lower than expected offer during a confusing-for-many 3 day window where many are eligible and then releasing better offers the next day. If you haven’t applied yet, check your email and accounts and maybe wait until tomorrow just to make sure nothing better comes along.

Amex doesn’t have a policy of matching higher offers you find later per se, but a nice agent or, if need be, Supervisor, should be able to credit you goodwill points. I applied yesterday for 100k and plan to call.

It’s also another reason why, even if you like this card, if you aren’t subject to the August 25th restrictions you should wait a bit and see if they up the ante even more. The card is not very competitive as a Super Premium card and I have to assume their application volume will decline after the 25th, promoting either better offers or (one can only hope) improvements to the benefits.

How do you feel about the Luxury card? Let me know here, on Twitter, or in the private MilesTalk Facebook group.
