You can read the details in the original post, but wow does March 3rd seem like a lifetime ago.
I personally registered for the challenge, using my Delta Gold to match to TAP Gold (and therefore, Star Alliance Gold).
But as travel started to go downhill in March, I never completed the second part of the match requirements – buying miles. The cheapest you can do this is $87 and, with the match expiring September 2020, it definitely made no sense.

Today, TAP reached out to me to let me know that I hadn’t completed the Buy Miles part of my challenge and reminded me I have til March 31st to do so.
I responded that I didn’t plan to because I may not even be able to fly before September.
They replied: “We inform that the status will be valid until March 2021 due to Covid-19 outbreak.”
Well, now I’m intrigued. Star Alliance Gold through March 2021 even if I don’t fulfill the additional match requirements – for $87.
Obviously the value will depend on how much I fly on a Star Alliance carrier like United by March 2021.
But I’m curious….
