I wrote last year about my wonderful experience visiting Cuba with Travendly. I also wrote a Top Ten list of advice for your trip to Cuba. I loved seeing a land stuck in time and the wonderful people there who seemed to have the highest of spirits now that their borders were finally opening up and more tourist money could flow in.

But CNN has reported that Trump may well make a decision in June to seal Cuba back off from US tourists. He says that the deal in place now isn’t good enough and if he can’t make a better deal, he’ll just revert the US back to where we are no longer allowed to freely travel there.

That would create headaches for US companies that have opened or plan to open hotels there, like Starwood/Marriott which has a Four Points now open and a Luxury Collection property in the works, and would also cause all of the airlines that have started direct routes from the US to have to cancel those routes.

Americans would likely be back to a situation of being unable to go very easily, which would be a shame.

I really enjoyed the experience I had. It wasn’t luxurious by any means, but it was real. And sometimes that is the kind of travel that is the most meaningful.

If it’s on your list you may want to make it happen now. And yes, you can (currently) use your miles to get there as a Caribbean priced award.
