United Explorer Card

The United Explorer Credit Card Has a New Offer Out Today.

Up to 70,000 Bonus Miles: 60,000 bonus MileagePlus miles when you spend $3,000 in your first 3 months + 10,000 more miles when you spend $6,000 total in your first 6 months.

The annual fee of $95 is waived for the first year.

While I’m not super keen on United miles while we are still in the middle of a pandemic and United *just* devalued their awards, the fact is that this the best ever offer on this card.

How Does This Compare to Past United Explorer Card Offers?

If you were thinking of applying for it anyway, this might be the time. The last “best offer” we had was for 65,000 United miles requiring $10,000 in spend.

This is clearly better with 5,000 more miles and $4,000 less spend.

United Explorer Card Benefits

The United Explorer card earns 2x miles at restaurants, on hotels purchased directly, and, of course, on United.

You also get:

Remember that United has recently changed the Mileage Plus program and only partner awards remain (for now) on a somewhat fixed award chart, though it’s inching higher on that end. United flights are now dynamically priced, reducing the value of the miles if you primary will use them to fly on United.

Also keep in mind that you should still be putting your daily spend on a credit card with transferable points, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or the Chase Sapphire Preferred– both of which can transfer to United miles 1:1 if you so choose.

If you are under 5/24 and interested in applying, please see this link for the United Explorer card.
