Today, American Express dropped a few upgraded offers on their Hilton branded Hotel Rewards Credit Cards. Since you can only get a bonus once per lifetime, increased offers are the time to strike.

Since Hilton retooled their program a couple of years back, points are in most cases worth around .4 to .5 cents a point. But you CAN get more by using them for 5 night stays (the 5th night is free on awards) in expensive locations. Personally, I’m holding on to 380,000 Hilton Honors points for an eventual trip to the Maldives where room rates can hit $1,000 + per night so I’ll get around a penny a point in value. Redeemed that way, these offers are worth $1,000 + each which is why they are exciting.

The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card is offering the most points at 125,000 bonus points. The best thing about getting a Business card is that it won’t affect your 5/24 status

Earn 125,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points after you spend $5,000 in purchases on your Card in the first 3 months of Card Membership. † Offer ends 6/27/2018

The Hilton Honors Ascend Card from American Express is offering 100,000 bonus points.

  • Limited Time Offer: Earn 100,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 in purchases on the Card within your first 3 months of Card Membership.
  • Plus, earn a free weekend night award after your first anniversary of Card Membership. Offer ends 06/27/2018.

And if you’ve never had the base level Hilton Honors Card from American Express, that has no fee (but most importantly also no Gold status. I equate the $95 fee on the Ascend to the cost of having Gold status. Worth it if you stay at Hilton a few times a year, but otherwise probably not.

The Ascend and Business cards also include 10 Priority Pass lounge visits, if you don’t already have another card that offers unlimited lounge access. They also include free weekend nights when you pass spend thresholds (i.e. one weekend night at $15,000 in spend) and increased earnings on Hilton stays as well as in select bonus categories (see below).

I wrote about all of these cards last year and the benefits are unchanged. Below is from the Press Release for the cards, thus the PR-esque tone.
