dash pass doordash extended

If you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred or a Chase Sapphire Reserve and have taken advantage of the complimentary DoorDash “DashPass” feature for free delivery over $12 and reduced fees, you are in luck.

This benefit was set to expire today, and I actually cancelled my DashPass about an hour ago to avoid paying for the feature, given how rarely I use DoorDash.

However, mere minutes after that, I got the following email:

DashPass and Chase Sapphire® are automatically extending your membership through December 31, 2024.

No additional sign-up or action needed. Just more savings on deliveries
with restaurants, grocery, convenience, and more when you use your Sapphire card and DashPass!

I had heard rumblings about them extending this benefit, and Doctor of Credit reported on a potential $5 a month credit for CSR cardholders, however, I’m pretty stunned to see a full three year extension on this benefit.

With many people’s Uber “Eats Pass” offered via Amex cards (no longer offered) having just expired, I do wonder if some will switch from Uber Eats to Door Dash. I find both vastly inferior to GrubHub (and, of course, ordering direct when possible), but if I have a free delivery pass with Door Dash and not the Uber Eats, that will certainly tip my ordering to Door Dash.
