Today, Delta made a HUGE improvement to its coronavirus waiver policy.
Previously the policy only applied to previously booked travel and those that booked beforehand were out of luck.

Delta Will Now Allow Previously Booked Travel to Get a Change Fee Waiver
The policy was modified today, March 9th, to include previously booked travel as follows:
No Change Fees for All Delta Tickets Purchased on or before March 9, 2020
- Affected Customers: All Tickets Issued on or before March 9, 2020
- Impacted Travel Date(s): March 1, 2020 – April 30, 2020
- New Ticket Must Be Re-issued On/Before: Dec 31, 2020
- Rebooked Travel Must Begin No Later Than: Dec 31, 2020
Delta does not say what happens if you are booked on an award flight before April 30th.
I have two such award flights that may need to be either changed to whenever this has all blown over or cancelled until we know that, so I’m most curious.
I reached out to them via Twitter in response to their fee waiver to find out what the policy is with award tickets and await a response, which I’ll post here as well once I know the answer.
if you’re on Twitter you can check if they’ve replied to this tweet:
Can you comment on the policy for award tickets issued before March 9 for travel before April 30? Would it be a free change or free award redeposit?
