I’d been eyeing the new Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi for many months as it sat on the Hilton website waiting for it to take future bookings.
On Feb 11th, those bookings went live, though at a new 120,000 standard level. At least the points remained fixed, and with room rates generally $1,500 a night ++ this seemed acceptable.
Then a few days ago, points bookings vanished entirely, perhaps signaling the rewards bookings were TOO popular. Still, with the resort not even open yet and the prices so high, I don’t think this should have surprised them.
Today, the award nights are loaded once again, so, just in case they change their minds again later, you may wan to secure some space. You’ll want to get 5 nights, so that the 5th night is free, making the 5 nights 480,000 points (plus boat transfer). If you have a Hilton Ascend (Learn More) or Hilton Honors American Express Business Card (Learn More), consider adding on those earned weekend free nights for a 6 or 7 night stay. Of course, these are both also great cards to rack up half the points needed for the stay with their Welcome Bonuses.
I will note that the availability for 5 nights isn’t nearly as wide open as it was on Feb 11th….
Good luck!
