hilton elite nights rollover

Hilton already normally allows elite members to “rollover” elite nights in the same way that Delta allows elite flyers to rollover any MQMs earned above their tier or the way that Marriott used to allow for rollover nights (but no longer does).

Hilton Elite Nights Earned in 2020 Will Be Awarded Again in 2021 – For All Members

Under the normal Hilton rollover system, you would need to already be an elite member to earn rollover nights, and only those rollover nights would, well, rollover.

What Hilton is changing for the 2021 status year is as follows:

  1. You don’t need to be elite to rollover nights
  2. All nights will rollover automatically – not just nights over a tier. Example: If you earned 10 elite nights in 2020 with no status, you would start 2021 with 10 elite nights.

Likewise, although Hilton already promised us the same status in 2021 as earned in 2020, if you didn’t already have status then this gives you a jump on earning it for this year OR next year – which would grant you the status through March 0f 2023

Hilton has a complete FAQ on what they are changing for 2020/2021 on this page.

Will Other Hotel Chains Match?

Maybe. I could see Hyatt doing this, or maybe IHG. Somehow I don’t foresee Marriott going back to rollover nights after they both removed them from the program and already gifted members bonus elite nights based on 2020 status – but you never know!
