The Balance Transfer Offers on the Chase Freedom Cards
Chase historically has had a balance transfer offer on both the Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Unlimited credit cards. It offered 15 months 0% APR on balance transfers (after a 3% balance transfer fee) as well as 0% on new purchases for 15 months.
The cards have continually been on my lists for best balance transfer credit cards.
Eagle-eyed MilesTalk group moderator Sarah caught the change this weekend. Note the part she highlighted.
The landing page for the Chase Freedom / Freedom Unlimited cards no longer have the balance transfer language – only the Intro APR. They still have the $200 welcome bonus offer for making $500 in purchases in 6 months.
Personal Referral Links
Also notable is how they changed the personal referral links. While previously available for both the Freedom and Freedom Unlimited, they now only go to a Freedom Unlimited landing page, meaning you’ll only get referral credit for the Unlimited, not the regular Chase Freedom with the 5% rotating categories.
But if you have been referring people, especially on your blog or similar, you’ll definitely want to know that even your existing Chase Freedom Unlimited referral won’t work. It will reload the same page but with a message that the offer expired. The visitor can then close that warning and apply anyway – just without you getting any referral credit. In that case, you’ll want to be sure to regenerate your referral links.
