It’s not the hugest of bonuses when you consider that a Chase Ultimate Rewards point is worth roughly 3X that of a Marriott Bonvoy point, but it’s worth knowing about.
From July 1 to August 31, 2021, you’ll get 1,500 Marriott Bonvoy points for every 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points that you transfer.
It mostly would only make sense to “top off” for an award, but there could be cases where the transfer makes sense. For example, let’s say you were booking 5 nights off peak at the W Maldives. That’s 280,000 points. If you didn’t have any, it would be 187,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points. If the stay were over $5,000, which it likely would be in cash, you could be getting 2-3 cpp on your Ultimate Rewards.
In most cases, however, I don’t think this will be extraordinarily worthwhile. Remember that Amex was offering a similar, slightly lower, 40% Marriott Bonvoy transfer bonus for several months.
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card ENDS by NOV 14, 2024: Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
