Chase Bank

Effective tomorrow, April 1, 2025, we will see the following changes across the Sapphire and Freedom card suites:

Chase Sapphire Reserve®

  • Lyft earn rate drops from 10X to 5X.
  • Adds $10 / month in-app Lyft credit. *Excludes Wait & Save, bike, and scooter rides. Maximum statement credit is up to $120 annually.
  • Peloton: Cardmembers will continue to earn 10x total points on eligible Peloton Bike, Tread and Row purchases over $150 with a max earn of 50,000 total points.
  • Cardmembers who have already signed up for the 2-year Lyft Pink benefit will continue to have access through the duration of their benefit term; however, cardmembers will not have access to sign up moving forward.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

  • Continues to earn 5X on Lyft rides and continues to earn 5x total points on eligible Peloton Bike, Tread and Row purchases over $150 with a max earn of 25,000 total points.

Chase Freedom Flex℠

  • Lyft earn rate drops from 5X to 2X

Chase Freedom Unlimited®

  • Lyft earn rate drops from 5X to 2X

Chase Freedom Rise®

  • Lyft earn rate drops from 5X to 2X

Chase Ink cards retain the 5X / 5% earn rate on Lyft.

If you only had a Freedom card and were using that a lot for 5X Lyft rides, you may want to reconsider which card you are using now at 2X.

Sapphire Reserve cardholders get another $120 in value a year if they use rideshare services like Lyft – helping to bridge the gap further on recouping that $550 annual fee ($300 travel credit + $120 Lyft credits + Priority Pass)

  1. I have CSR so this is a nice little win overall. I usually take 1-3 Lyft rides per month (I’m not loyal to Uber or Lyft and pick cheapest/quickest). So missing out on 5 points earnings on $50 or $60 (an airport/cruise port ride or 2) is like $4 worth of points earning lost. But net $10 gain in that same month. And maybe I can buy Lyft Cash ($10 off of $25 purchase) in months I’m not actually taking a Lyft (they aren’t as common overseas as Uber).

Interestingly, this shifts the preference slightly to Uber just because I’d always choose Lyft over Uber if prices were about the same bc the 10x earnings is like a 10% discount.
