I’ve long thought of Choice Privileges as that program that was basically good for booking Preferred Hotels and Resorts – and that’s about it. They are a Citi ThankYou transfer partner (1:2).
Now, one reason you make not be booking choice hotels is that they tended to be on the lower end, although their merger with Radisson definitely Brough some nicer properties online.
But the biggest reason most people didn’t use Choice was the booking window. You could only make a reward booking within 100 days of travel – essentially not letting you actually make any plans with a reasonable timeframe.
In early 2025, we’ll see the following improvements:
- Expanded booking window: Book a reward night up to 50 weeks in advance, giving them more time to plan their trip.
- Premium room types: Redeem points for the premium features that matter most to them, such as extra space, a better view or an upgraded room, at select hotels.
- Choice RewardSaver: Choice is re-introducing the popular Radisson Hotels Americas redemption tool that allows members to book rewards nights starting at 6000 points–down from the previous minimum of 8,000.
On the surface, this seems like an excellent set of improvements to the program.
