Update: It’s possible that adding a spouse won’t work as I am hearing that may process as two transactions and the offer specifically states one transaction. YMMV.
Recently we wrote about all of the new perks that “justified” the new, higher annual fee on The Platinum Card® from American Express.
One of them was a $179 maximum credit for CLEAR, an airport security line service that brings you right to the front of the security queue after a biometric scan.
You can also get the $179 CLEAR credit with a Business Platinum Card® from American Express and you can get a $100 credit annually with an American Express® Green Card.
Well, in a move I can’t quite understand, Amex has decided that you can grab a free year worth up to $179 by having other Amex cards. Granted this is a one-off free year, but check your Amex Offers.
I have it on my Amex Rose Gold Card and others have reported on their Hilton Honors Aspire® Credit Card.
It’s important to note that just by having even a base level Delta or United account, your CLEAR membership is just $119 (with a fee of $109 for elite members and no charge for top tier elites). It’s $60 more each to add a family member, so you and a spouse can easily get a completely free year together with this discount. Update: May not work with additional family member.
