Doctor of Credit broke the news today that Banco Popular will not only discontinue the Avianca Vuela and Vida credit cards, but they will actively close all cardmember accounts on March 31, 2022.
If you are a current cardmember, check your mail for the notification but it will apply to all accounts regardless.
They also appear to be crediting any annual fees charged since February 2021 and not charging if you renewed in 2022, so that’s one less thing to worry about.
I can’t say this card going away is a huge loss, though certainly there are some true Avianca LifeMiles aficionados. Still, you can transfer into Avianca from most transferable points anyway.
