While short on time, this one devaluation caught my eye enough that I had to write a quick post.
Loyalty Lobby reports in full on the in-progress devaluation and you can see screenshots of old vs new there.
I mainly wanted to call out the loss of a particular sweet spot that has been oft discussed as the cheapest business class way to Europe (East Cost to Madrid) at just 34,000 Avios when booked on an off peak date (as determined by Avios).
Say so long to that 34,000 mile sweet spot, which I bet will still be presented at miles and points conferences and shown by Google’s AI search for years to come as stale websites will continue to show it…. (Mental note: look for pages I need to update this on 😉 ).
The new price is 40,500 Avios for that same off peak flight the (3,001–4,000 mileage band) and it goes from 50,000 to 59,000 peak. I guess that is still 1,000 miles less than Air France’s increase on their floor price US-EU to 60,000? 😉
