New Welcome Bonus Offers: Amex Blue Business Plus and Blue Business Cash
The Blue Business Plus credit card is one of my absolute favorites.
With no annual fee, it earns a simple 2X American Express Membership Rewards points on absolutely everything (up to $50,000 a year; 1X thereafter). One great feature of possessing the Blue Business Plus is that most Amex cards that earn MR points have an annual fee. If you ever needed to get out of the annual fee game altogether with Amex, you’d be at risk of losing all of your accrued points. But with Amex, all points always pool together and having any Membership Rewards-earning card keeps all your points alive. By having a Blue Business Plus, you know you never have to worry about that.
It’s cash back companion, the American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card works the same, but earns 2% cash back up to $50,000 a year and then 1%.
These cards almost never have any sort of Welcome Bonus as part of their public offer. That said, it’s often been possible to get some sort of bonus via Refer-a-Friend. Most commonly that offer has been for 10,000 points on the Blue Business Plus. I’ve actually seen 30,000 and 50,000 point offers as well, but very rarely and they require much more minimum spend as well.
Today, Amex launched new offers on both cards, making it more appealing than ever to get either one of these cards. (I’d say both, but realistically since Amex limits you to 5 credit cards, you probably don’t want to fill two slots).
The new offers are:
Blue Business® Plus Credit Card: Earn 15,000 Bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $3,000 in your first 3 months. Terms apply.
I’d value the bonus at $255 based on the MilesTalk value of a Membership Rewards point (1.7 cents each)
American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card: Earn a $250 statement credit after spending $3,000 within your first 3 months. Terms Apply.
In short, each one will give you ~$250 in value for the welcome bonus for the same minimum spend. Both cards are solid, but my first choice would certainly be the Blue Business® Plus Credit Card.
You can grab 2% cash back anywhere, but 2X Membership Rewards on everything with no annual fee is special.
