A lot – and I mean a LOT – of people have been clamoring to get their Ocean Prime status rematched right at 18 months and 1 day of inactivity due to the (now previous) policy that you can only rematch after 18 months of inactivity.

With Caesars no longer matching to Wyndham Diamond status earned from the Business Earner credit card starting February 1, 2025 AND Ocean already posting a new requirement effective Sunday Dec 1, 2024 that matched Ocean status requires 250 Tier Credits to qualify for travel benefits (i.e. the free MSC cruise and Wynn nights, the clock is ticking.

And reader Chris G. has astutely noticed yet ANOTHER change to the Ocean tier benefit brochure that seems to be effective immediately.

ocean casino 24 months inactivity instead of 18

Yes, they have apparently increased the amount of time in between matches to 24 months.

The new Ocean Tier Match brochure is linked here (Effective Nov 30, 2024)

If you do a status match, they now don’t want you to gamble or stay there for an entire TWO YEARS after if you want to be able to status match again.

I actually had no issue with the 250 Tier Credit requirement. As much as I love everyone here getting something for nothing, it was never going to last forever. The 250 Tier Credit requires several hours of gaming but is still just a tiny fraction of the 30,000 Tier Credits it takes to earn Prime organically. So, fair play there.

Now, I get the 24 months thing is another way to try and avoid people like those riding the Status Match Merry Go Round® but if you actually are a gambler (I actually am) this means that to maximize your benefits you can have one big fun day on the day you match and then you can’t go back to gamble there for two years.

IMHO, a much smarter way to do this would be to require two years from last match to rematch (if they are already going the 2 year route) rather than base it on you not giving them any business for two years, but hey, not my casino 😉

Sorry to break the bad news all! My assumption is that this is effective immediately and if you have a flight booked to AC, you may wish to reconsider…

Dave Grossman
I got "in the game" in 2003 and since then I've collected literally millions and millions of frequent flyer miles and hotel points. I've flown around the world in first class seats that would cost $29,000 using frequent flyer miles and a few bucks in tax. And I've stayed in some of the finest hotels - all for free! Several years ago, I realized many of my friends actually thought I was paying for these!! So I started sharing my tips. It's long been a passion, but when I hosted a session on Miles and Points at the South by Southwest festival, my love of the game intensified and this blog was born. Since then, I've written my book, MilesTalk: Live Your Wildest Travel Dreams Using Miles and Points (2nd Edition) - (author profile), give seminars on miles and points all over the world, and occasionally write for publications such as Frommer's and Forbes Advisor.

  1. I think it means the game is over. You can not match between HR and Ocean anymore because HR expires before 2 years of inactivity for Ocean. And you can not get HR because Caesar rout is closed.
Are there ways to get HR Icon that are still open?
