This is similar to the relationship between Marriott Bonvoy and United MileagePlus, where Marriott Titanium status gets you UA Silver and UA Gold and higher get Marriott Bonvoy Gold status for the program year.
In the Bonvoy / Aeroplan partnership, Marriott Bonvoy Titanium and higher get Aeroplan 25k status while Aeroplan Super Elite, 75K, and 50K members receive complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status.
I’m going to skip right over the new ability to transfer Aeroplan miles to Bonvoy 1:1 because, well, what an awful move that would be.

What’s nice about this is that just having Marriott Titanium status gets you two low tier airline statuses, giving you two airlines in which someone that otherwise would have no status can at least select decent seats and get some included free baggage.
Titanium is earned at 75 elite nights, but keep in mind that you could earn 40 elite nights off the bat each year if you have both a Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant and a Marriott Bonvoy Business credit card (25 nights from the Brilliant and 15 from the business card).
It is worth noting, though, that Gold is Marriott’s highest “basically irrelevant” tier – as it does not come with room category upgrades, nor lounge access, nor breakfast, nor a guaranteed 4pm checkout. That starts at Platinum status. Marriott has simply not been willing to give that away – aside from on the $650 Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card – as even in their MGM partnership, MGM Platinum (which is HARD to earn) only gives Gold.
