Marriott is out with a pretty solid Q1 promotion that you should register for now regardless of if you currently plan a stay or not (because you might later and forget about this!).
Unlike certain targeted promotions Bonvoy sends out, where you get an amount of time that could suit you better or worse based on the day you register, this one has a fixed start end end date so just click the button.
(Quick aside – Marriott IT being Marriott IT, I cannot actually register myself for this promotion right now, despite it being officially launched. I get an error on the website and it’s not in my app. When this has happened before, give it a day or two, then go back to register. How this happens semi-frequently is beyond me. Usually most people can register but some cannot when this happens.)
- Register now, then earn from February 13 through April 29, 2024. Registration ends April 15, 2024.
- Earn 1,000 bonus points and 1 bonus Elite Night Credit on each eligible paid night with no earning limits.
- Say yes to higher Elite status and exclusive benefits faster with bonus Elite Night Credits.
- Redeem your bonus points for free nights at extraordinary hotels. Plus, points give you access to unrivaled Marriott Bonvoy Moments™ experiences, room upgrades, and so much more.
I think it’s an excellent promotion from the perspective that many people have 30-40 elite nights just from credit cards, so you can get to Platinum or even Titanium (which includes United Silver elite status) a lot easier if your travel aligns.
I hate that they exclude award stays. Hyatt happily counts award stays in their promotions, acknowledging that redeeming an award stay is still a show of loyalty to the brand and should not be treated differently. I have fixed travel during this time frame and expiring Free Night Award certificates that expire during this time (and the Bonvoy agents have been instructed to not extend these any more under pretty much any circumstance). So am I supposed to let a free night expire so I can book a paid stay to qualify for the promo? It’s unfortunate that the Bonvoy execs think this way.
Recall that award nights across all hotel chains used to not count for elite nights and that changes across all major chains years ago recognizing the same thing I’m talking about here – that loyalty is loyalty.
That rant aside, it is still a good promo for paid stays and again, register now.

Does a stay booked at Excalibur from MGM’s website amount to a qualifying rate for this promotion?
Nope. And once MGM is actually bookable you will only earn elite nights if you book on a Marriott channel for much more money.
