And if you live in LA, sorry….
We’ve been excited to see how the Southwest Companion Pass (which you can get for two years just by getting two credit cards) would help with trips for two to Hawaii.
And the announcement is now on Southwest’s website:
While specific routes are not yet available for purchase, our initial intention is to begin Hawaii nonstop service from Oakland (OAK), San Diego (SAN), San Jose (SJC), and Sacramento (SMF).* From California, you can reach Honolulu, HI (Oahu), Kahului, HI (Maui), Kona, HI (Island of Hawaii), and Lihue, HI (Kauai). We also intend to provide interisland service, so you can fly between the Hawaiian Islands with us, too.
I think I’m most surprised that they won’t be flying from Los Angeles, but there you have it.
It’s also pretty noteworthy that they will be provided interisland service on Hawaii, given that Island Air just went out of business.
