Today, Chase launched a promotion on most of their cards to earn a special bonus multiplier on groceries now through June 30th, 2020. The maximum is $1,500 per month in spend per card, but since you many have a number of Chase cards, your actual maximum may be much higher. No activation is required.
It’s worth noting that if you have a Chase Freedom card, this quarter already has 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on groceries up to $1,500.
Also remember that all Marriott Bonvoy cards, including the Chase Bonvoy Boundless and Chase Bonvoy Bold are earning 6X right now on grocery spend.

Good deal?
First off, keep in mind that warehouse clubs like Costco and BJs as well as “super center” retail stores won’t count as a supermarket.
Second, you can always consult my master list of rewards for the supermarket / grocery bonus category to see what the best deal is for your own lineup of cards and needs.
I think that with Amex also adding grocery bonus categories to some cards now, in addition to the Chase Freedom 5X this quarter, you have a lot of options.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve for 5X points is a winner for me, given that it equates to a minimum of 7.5% cash back when used towards travel (in the future! 😉 ). Of course, I already have my trusty Amex Gold which already earns 4X Amex points year round at the supermarket.
It would nice to see Chase keep grocery spend as a permanent bonus category on at least one of its cards. For sure, if the Chase Sapphire Reserve earned 4-5X on groceries year round, I think many more people would stick to that over the Amex Gold as an all-in-one card.
