I know that’s a lot! But I’ve been crazy busy at Money 20/20 here in Vegas (pre-gaming for Zorkfest this weekend! 😉 ) which is sort of like Fintech’s version of SXSW. You go all day and then all night at various activations and parties.
But I still wanted to highlight a bunch of things from the last few days to make sure you aren’t missing anything!
In this article
Virgin Dynamic Pricing Live
First is that Virgin Atlantic has pushed their dynamic pricing online.
While there are certainly now business class flights across the pond for over 300,000 points (as expected) there are some surprising bargains on right now as well. I’m seeing JFK-LHR flights on the hot new A330neo for just 35,000 points and under $300 in fees.
Availability is thin and I see mostly on the 6/6:30pm flights but if that works for you, snatch it up! There may even be slightly cheaper seats.
I’m not sure if this is a first day of dynamic pricing error or what so book now!
Sonder Bookable via Marriott
Sonder hotels and apartments are now bookable as part of Bonvoy, but only by phone. You can earn points and nights and also redeem points.
Sonder Hotels:
- Ten points per dollar spent on room rate
- One elite night credit per qualifying night
Sonder Apartments:
- Five points per dollar spent on room rate
- One elite night credit per qualifying night
At this time, if you want to redeem points for Sonder stays, you must book through Sonder’s call center at +1 415-849-2740. If booking a paid rate, you must enter your Bonvoy number during the booking process.
Bilt’s Rent Day
The main thing to know for November 1st is that you will be able to transfer from Bilt to British Airways Avios (which can of course also be transferred to other Avios programs like Iberia and Qatar) for a 50% or 100% bonus.
Unlike past bonuses with higher amounts for higher Bilt elite tiers, you’ll find your account targeted for either one or the other using their own criteria. It is already in your app (and there seems to be no cap on how many points can be transferred) but as always you just do the transfer on Nov 1st.
We’ll also send out a transfer offer alert on Friday to remind you as long as you are signed up and have the alerts for Bilt toggled on.
United’s New Status Requirements
United’s raised the requirements for earning elite status for next year. One bight side? You can earn more PQPs from credit card spend – 15,000 on the United Club Infinite and Club Business; United Quest maxes at 9,000 PQPs.
Stella Shon breaks it all down here for T&L.
DOT Refund Rule in Effect
Remember the new rule we discussed a while back that will airlines to give refunds for significant delays automatically and to your credit card – not as a voucher? The rules have been defined more completely and the rules are also now officially in effect.
The refunds will kick in after a 3 hour delay domestically or 6 internationally. You can still choose to let the airline rebook you – but if you don’t, then these would apply. Changes to arrival or departure airports or changes in connections also qualify you for a refund.
Here’s a bit more info from CBS is you want to dig deeper.
ZorkFest is this Weekend
Don’t forget, this weekend is ZorkFest in Vegas and if you haven’t bought a ticket yet, well, you’ve missed all the earlybird pricing – but tickets are still available! You can purchase them here. I’ll be speaking on Saturday about the Status Match Merry Go Round.
