hyatt credit card

The World of Hyatt credit card from Chase is one of the better hotel co-brand credit cards on the market.

Not because you’d generally put all of your spend on it, but because:

  • You earn 4 World of Hyatt points per dollar on all Hyatt brand spend,
  • You get a free Category 1-4 certificate each year with renewal ($95 annual fee) as well as a free night for $15,000 in annual spend (cardmember year, not calendar)
  • And earn 2 elite night credits for every $5,000 you spend

The ability to potentially earn top-tier Globalist status, which is largely thought to be the best top tier elite status of any hotel group.

Globalist members get the following on top of lower level tier benefits:

  • Waived resort fees, including on paid stays
  • Upgrades, including to standard suites
  • Guaranteed 4pm late checkout
  • A choice of Club Access or breakfast on all stays
  • Free parking on award stays

On top of that, all members get bonus benefits based on elite night credits.

  • 20 nights: 2 Club Lounge Access awards
  • 30 nights: 1 category 1-4 free night plus 2 Club Lounge Access award
  • 40 nights: 5,000 bonus points or a $100 Hyatt gift card or 10,000 points savings on a FIND experience
  • 50 nights: 2 Suite Upgrade awards
  • 60 nights: 1 Category 1-7 Free Night plus 2 Suite Upgrade awards plus access to a My Hyatt Concierge
  • 70 and 80 and 90 and 100 nights: At each step, get 10,000 bonus points or 1 Suite Upgrade award

The Offer on the World of Hyatt Credit Card

While many offers we see for credit cards are only for new applicants, this offer on the World of Hyatt credit card is for existing card holders and new members alike.

  • Between April 15 and June 30th, each time you hit $5,000 in spend (going by the charge post date) will earn you 3 elite night credits instead of 2 (cue someone saying “You can earn Globalist for just $100,000 in spend!”). If you hit the threshold July 1st, though, that won’t count.
  • Additional benefit for new applicants: Get 10 elite nights with your new card (the standard offer gets 5 elite nights). You must apply by June 30th, 2020.

Now, I don’t really expect you to spend $100,000 for Globalist, but when you scan the above list of bonuses you get, combined with the fact that you may already have some elite nights from the beginning of the year, and you can see that either spending up to Globalist (depending on where you were at pre-COVID) or at least going for a tier bonus like 1 category 1-4 free night plus 2 Club Lounge Access award at 30 nights can make a lot of sense for many. I’d value that free night at ~$200+ alone.

The 5/24 Consideration

I’d be applying for this offer now, but of course we all know the World of Hyatt credit card is subject to all the usual 5/24 rules (which in short mean that you won’t be approved if you’ve opened 5 or more personal credit cards in the past 24 months).

Chase World of Hyatt Bonus Offer
